What areas do you specialise in?
Werner Foundation provides counselling support in the following areas:

Can I still access counselling if my concern is not listed?
Yes.
If your concern is not specifically outlined above, you are encouraged to make contact. I offer a complimentary, no-obligation consultation to discuss your situation and determine whether I am the appropriate practitioner to support you.
If I believe your needs would be better met by another professional, I will advise you transparently and assist with referral options where possible.
Are you registered with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA)?
Yes.
I am a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and practise in accordance with their professional and ethical standards. This includes adherence to continuing professional development requirements and strict confidentiality obligations.
Is your practice limited to migrants?
No.
Although I have lived experience of migration and particular insight into cultural transition and identity challenges, my services are open to individuals from all cultural, ethnic and faith backgrounds.
Are services available to men as well as women?
Yes.
Counselling is available to individuals of all genders, including partners navigating grief, loss and identity-related challenges.
How are counselling sessions delivered?
Werner Foundation operates primarily online. Sessions are available via:
- Microsoft Teams
- FaceTime
- WhatsApp video
- Telephone
I do not have Microsoft Teams. Can we use another platform?
Yes.
If Microsoft Teams is not accessible to you, sessions may be conducted via WhatsApp video or FaceTime.
Are telephone sessions available?
Yes.
Telephone counselling is available. However, video sessions (via Teams, FaceTime or WhatsApp) are generally recommended as they allow for greater relational connection and non-verbal communication. The format used will always be based on your comfort and accessibility.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes.
All counselling sessions are conducted in accordance with Australian professional and ethical standards. Confidentiality will be maintained except in circumstances where there is a legal or ethical obligation to disclose information (for example, risk of serious harm). These limits will be clearly outlined in your counselling agreement.
What can I expect during the initial session?
The initial session is an opportunity to:
- Explore your presenting concerns
- Clarify your goals
- Discuss expectations
- Determine suitability of fit
There is no obligation to continue after the first session.
Do I need to be religious to engage in counselling?
No.
Spiritual or faith-based themes are incorporated only at the client’s request. Counselling is inclusive and respectful of all belief systems.
How long will I require counselling?
The duration of counselling varies depending on your needs and goals. Some clients engage in short-term focused work, while others benefit from longer-term therapeutic support. Progress is reviewed collaboratively.
How do I book an appointment?
Appointments can be made through the online booking system. Alternatively, you may begin with a complimentary consultation.
I feel uncertain about starting counselling. Is this normal?
Yes.
It is common to feel hesitant prior to beginning therapy. You are welcome to raise any concerns during your initial consultation.
